On Mother's Day, India Bought 143 Chocolates Per Minute Beating V-Day Orders: Swiggy Instamart CEO

Indians adore their mothers, and they certainly know how to express their affection! This Mother's Day, celebrated on May 12, 2024, they showered their mothers with immense love and appreciation. The CEO of Swiggy Instamart proudly announced that they had broken a new record for single-day orders on this special occasion, surpassing even Valentine's Day and New Years' Eve!

Sweet love for mothers

Taking to X,  the CEO of Swiggy Instamart Phani Kishan, shared that the Mother's Day section of the app had a significant consumer response.  

The IIT Madras graduate highlighted a remarkable 141% increase in orders for handbags, perfumes, and watches, setting a new record for single-day orders.

Additionally, Kishan shared that orders for chocolates began as early as midnight, now reaching a rate of 143 chocolates per minute

He posted, "Orders for chocolate started as early as midnight and continue to be ordered. We're currently running at 143 chocolates per minute. Love for our mothers is sweeter than everything else."

Performed better than NYE & even V-Day

He also gave a special shoutout to a customer from Mumbai who clearly didn’t stop at anything to make his mother feel special!

Kishan wrote, "Big shoutout to a user from Mumbai for showering their mom with love and gifts! The order totalling 11 items includes cards, chocolates, flowers, a handbag and perfume. Talk about spoiling your mom in style!"

According to the data, cards and mugs emerged as the popular choices for last-minute orders.

The app was experiencing a surge, with "41 cards per minute" flying off the virtual shelves and quickly running out of stock.

"Don't worry, we're stocking up. From new moms to plant and pet moms, there's something for every mom out there!" he wrote.

Clearly, love for moms reigned above all.

As Kishan enlightens, "Going by the current orders, looks like @swiggyinstamart is on track to hit our highest-ever orders today; surpassing not just NYE but also peak days like V-Day and Holi this year!"
