Recently, the UK issued a heatwave warning at just 26 degrees Celsius, as reported by The Mirror on June 14, 2024.
This triggered a flurry of responses from Indians on social media.
IFS Officer Parveen Kaswan humorously noted, "That is just two degrees above the default air conditioning setting in India. Seems like pleasant weather."
Another commenter pointed out, "I'm sorry, but that's not a heatwave."
A particularly sarcastic comment read, "Aur ye hampe raaj karte the. Itnasa 26 degree sehen na hota inse!"
Yet another person mentioned that their living room temperature often exceeds 33 degrees Celsius, which makes 26 degrees seem mild in comparison.
Another quipped, "That's the temperature of an ice cube left outside in a Delhi kitchen for 10 minutes."
This year, severe heatwave conditions have been observed in various parts of North India, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

In contrast, UK has been experiencing a pretty chilly summer this time and it is only now that it is anticipated to finally experience warmer weather, according to forecasters.
The Met Office forecasts temperatures could reach up to 23 degrees Celsius, marking a departure from the wet and cool conditions that prevailed for most of June.
The Met Office defines a heatwave in the UK as occurring when a location records a period of "at least three consecutive days" with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding specific thresholds. These thresholds range from 25 degrees Celsius in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to 28 degrees Celsius in London and parts of the south and southeast of England.
