The COVID-19 pandemic, which hit the world in end-2019, changed many things; one was how we travel.
Now, hygiene is our foremost concern, something we had been ignorant about until now, barring a few germophobes.
So, when a flight attendant talks about how unclean airplanes are and advises about things not to do on planes - people are all ears.
A viral video on TikTok shows a flight attendant spreading advice about things passengers should never do on an airplane.
Tommy Cimato, a cabin crew member and TikToker shares, "Five things you should never do on a plane."
On number one, he says not to touch the flush button/ lever with one's bare hands. This is 'super unsanitary and pretty gross.'
He advises using a tissue or a napkin to flush - a practice that some of us probably already follow.
Another aspect he warns against is laying one's head or sleeping on the window. He says, "You are the not the only one who has done that, and you do not know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window."
Wearing shorts on airplanes is another thing he asks passengers to avoid. Strange as it may seem, he makes a logical point - "If you have pants, you are going to have less germs."
This alludes to the fact that airplane seats are seldom cleaned, and making direct contact with the seat by any body part isn't advisable.
One user commented on the video, as reported by TimesNow, "This basically proves you guys don't clean the plane." Other users shared their own hygiene practices, such as wiping down the seats before sitting.
The other two points he makes aren't related to hygiene but can be considered more general tips for a flight passenger.
First, he says, "Don't forget to drink water, stay hydrated." He advises drinking about 16 ounces of water for every flight that one goes on.
The second point that he makes is, "Don't feel afraid to let a flight attendant know if you are feeling sick. We are there to help so if you need food, water or an air sickness bag, please feel free to let us know."
