Annu Kapoor refuses to recognise Kangana Ranaut, asks 'Ye Kangana Ji Kaun Hain, Sundar Hai Kya'

Annu Kapoor whose recently released film Hamare Baarah was embroiled in a huge controversy, so much so, that the film was banned in Karnakata was recently asked about Kangana Ranaut slap incident when he refused to recognise her. During a press conference for the film which has now been released on June 21 (earlier scheduled to be released on June 7), he made the controversial remark.

"Yeh Kangana ji kaun hain? Please batao na kaun hain? Zaahir hai aap pooch rahe hain toh koi bahut badi heroine hongi? Sundar hain kya? (Who is Kangana Ji? Is she a big heroine? Is she beautiful?)” said Annu Kapoor at the press conference for Hamare Baarah. The reporter had asked him about the incident in which the actress-turned-politician was recently slapped by a CISF officer at Chandigarh airport because she didn't agree with her views on farmers' laws and protests.

This didn't end here. When a reporter told him that besides being a Bollywood actress, Kangana Ranaut is also an MP from Mandi now, he said, "Oho woh bhi ho gayi! Abhi toh bahut shaktishaali ho gayi hain. (Oh, she has become that too. She is powerful now.)”

Annu Kapoor later added that she should take legal action against the officer who slapped her, especially if she did this on duty while wearing the uniform. He also suggested that an FIR should be lodged against her. 

Annu Kapoor had made a similar comment about Aamir Khan when his film Laal Singh Chaddha was released in theatres. When he was asked about the controversy surrounding the film, he asked "What is that? I don't watch movies. I don't know." 

Annu added and said, "Movie he nahi dekhta mein na apni na parayo ki. Mujhe pata bhi nahi hain yeh kaun hai sach much. Toh mein kya bata paunga ki kaun hain woh. I have no idea (It's not about ‘no comments’. I don't watch films, be it mine or of others. I honestly don't even know who he is, then how can I tell you anything about him)."
