From newsrooms to controversial reality TV shows, from reporting news to becoming one, from interviewing and investigating to being held hostage in the house for months, several journalists shocked the nation as they appeared on Bigg Boss, a reality TV series in which contestants' also known as housemates live together in a house isolated from the outside world controlled by a voice for months to win the cash prize.

Journalists who appeared on reality show Bigg Boss

1. Deepak Chaurasia

One of the known names in the field of journalism, Deepak Chaurasia played a key role in the establishment of the 24-hour news channel Aaj Tak. He has worked with other major networks such as News Nation, ABP News, and India News throughout his esteemed career

Currently being seen on Bigg Boss OTT season 3, the journalist had led quite a controversial life - from being taken off screen during a live show for appearing intoxicated to facing an arrest warrant related to a POCSO case.

2. Jigna Vora

Crime journalist Jigna Vora whose story inspired Netflix series Scoop, starring Karishma Tanna as her, gained national attention in 2011 when she was arrested for allegedly conspiring with gangster Chota Rajan in the murder of her competing crime journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. She participated in Bigg Boss 17, which was won by Munawar  Faruqui. 

3. Aseem Trivedi

Indian political cartoonist and activist, known for his anti-corruption campaign Cartoons Against Corruption, Aseem Trivedi was arrested in 2012 on charges of sedition after one of his cartoons, part of his anti-corruption campaign, was deemed offensive and derogatory towards the Indian government and national symbols. His arrest sparked a significant debate on the limits of free speech and the use of sedition laws in India. 

In the same year, he appeared on Bigg Boss season 6, which was won by actress Urvashi Dholakia. After appearing on the show, he called it a big mistake. Aseem said that while he thought he would use the platform to propagate his views, he was instead used for TRPs. 

4. Shefali Bagga

The Indian TV anchor and journalist who recently hosted one of the IPL 2024 Opening Ceremony and was highly criticised for the same, Shefali Bagga was a contestant on Bigg Boss 13, which was won by Sidharth Shukla.

5. Rajat Sharma

The Chairman and Editor-In-Chief of India TV, Rajat Sharma known for his iconic show Aap Ki Adalat, has often appeared on the reality tv show to grill the contestants or finalists towards the end of the season. However, he was never a participant of the show.

6. Dibang

ABP News' senior journalist Dibang appeared on Bigg Boss 17 to question the contestants about their strategies and game play in one of the episodes. He, however, didn't participate in the show as a contestant.
