Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 2 Dry Days: Liquor shops closed in some places in Uttar Pradesh from today, Wednesday, April 24, from 6 pm to 6 pm or the end of voting time on Friday, April 26 or the counting day due to the Lok Sabha elections 2024 Phase 2. The liquor shops in the Gautam Buddh Nagar districts which includes five Vidhan Sabha constituencies, Noida, Dadri, Jewar, Sikandrabad, and Khurja and also in Baghpat and Ghaziabad districts, will be shut for 48 hours from Wednesday evening. This is because of the upcoming second phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections on April 26. 

"District Excise Officer Subodh Kumar Srivastava said the enforcement of the order will be strictly ensured in the district and violators will face legal action, including penalty or jail, in compliance with the rules."

"As per rules, liquor outlets should close down 48 hours ahead of the election. Here, all authorised liquor outlets will remain closed from 6 pm on Wednesday (April 24) to 6 pm, or end of voting time, on Friday (April 26)," Srivastava said, reported in PTI.

He further added, ""Excise officials are continuously monitoring the sales of liquor in Noida and Greater Noida in view of the elections and inspecting all complaints of irregularities to ensure timely action," he added."

The officer also mentioned that anyone caught selling alcohol illegally during this time would face strict legal consequences, including fines or jail time, according to the Excise laws.

Gautam Buddha Nagar is getting ready for voting on April 26, in the second phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. People can vote between 7 am and 6 pm on that day.

In Gautam Buddha Nagar, the election is between three main parties: the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP), and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Mahesh Sharma is running for the BJP, Rajendra Singh Solanki for the BSP, and Mahendra Nagar for the SP and the opposition alliance called INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance).
