Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is contesting in four out of the seven Lok Sabha seats in the polls scheduled for May 25. The AAP candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections in Delhi are Somnath Bharti (New Delhi), Sahi Ram (South Delhi), Mahabal Mishra (West Delhi), and Kuldeep Kumar (East Delhi).

Other AAPs in Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party is not the only AAP contesting Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. There is another AAP - Anjaan Aadmi Party. The party, formed in 2015 by Ashutosh Pandey, also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha Election in Delhi. In 2024, the party is contesting from the New Delhi seat.

There is yet another AAP in the fray - Aapki Apni Party, which is contesting in two seats - North-East Delhi and West Delhi.

Other interesting parties contesting in Delhi include Gareeb Aadmi Party (GAP), Right to Recall Party (RRP), Akhil Bhartiya Parivar Party, Voters Party International, Pyramid Party of India, and more.

Candidates in Delhi

According to the Election Commission's website, a total of 367 candidates had filed their nominations to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi. Out of this, 232 were accepted while 129 nominations were rejected. A total of six candidates have withdrawn their nominations, leaving 162 contestants in the fray.

The BJP, which won seven seats in 2019, has candidates in all of them in 2024. The Congress, which is contesting the polls alongside the AAP as part of the INDIA alliance, has fielded candidates in three seats.

Delhi is scheduled to go to polls on May 25, and the counting of votes will be taken up on June 4. A total of 1,52,01,936 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise, including 82,12,794 men, 69,87,914 women, and 1,228 third-gender voters.
