When nature puts on a show, you watch. According to recent reports, skies over Spain and Portugal were lit up in brilliant blue light as a meteor made its way across. Many took to social media to share pictures and videos. It was a sight to behold. Here's all you need to know.

The clip shared on X is a compilation of various videos from across Portugal and Spain showing the breathtaking moment a brilliant blue meteorite lights up the sky. Onlookers can be heard gasping in shock and wonder as the ball of bright blue light zooms past. Shared on May 19, the clip has over 8 million views and 74.5K likes.

X user Collin Rugg, shared a montage of viral clips, one of which shows a woman jumping with joy as the meteor passes over her. He wrote in the caption: “Meteor spotted in the skies over Spain and Portugal. This is insane. Early reports claim that the blue flash could be seen darting through the night sky for hundreds of kilometers. At the moment, it has not been confirmed if it hit the Earth’s surface however some reports say it may have fallen near the town of Castro Daire. Other reports say it was closer to Pinheiro."    

One X user wrote, "That’s crazy! Mad props to the person that was able to get this footage!” “I’m going to take a wild guess that it’s actually a satellite and it fell because of the sun and the magnetic storm thingy,” added another. "Oh wow that’s really beautiful, I hope no one got hurt,” wondered a third user.

X user '@9mm_smg' wrote: "The Portuguese Civil Defense agency has confirmed a meteorite fell in the town of Pinheir."
